Landscaping
At Best by Myles we carry out all aspects of hard and soft garden landscaping. We have years of experience using a wide variety of materials in some very creative ways. We stay up to date with the most innovative products and will help you find the right ones for your project.
As we work in and around Brighton City, which is located on and near the Southdowns we have become experts in working on sloping sites and on properties with tight access. Don’t let an awkward site put you off, we can always find a solution to get your garden looking amazing!
Please take a look at some previous projects below….
Relaxation Garden
-
We created a multi-level garden with an upper terrace for a table and chairs and a more intimate lower seating area to relax with friends.
-
These decorative tiles break up the wood effect porcelain and make the lower area feel larger. We constructed this two piece bench for seating flexibility.
-
The black fencing and bold blue are dramatic statements, that will make the planting really stand out in the future
Hove Townhouse
-
This was an interesting garden as the side access was very wide, and so became a large part of the design.
We decided to incorporate seating options outside of each patio door to create easily accessible places to sit and relax.
-
We’ve used a nice light grey porcelain throughout and any changes in level were clad with the same porcelain and all edges are mitred to give a clean sharp look.
The natural Ash sleepers are a nice contrast to the contemporary paving.
-
There was quite a change in level to the lower section of the garden, so we built some grand, shallow steps to aid in the customer getting their bike to a from the shed.
Brighton Townhouse
-
This garden used a lovely mix of materials to add texture to the design.
The raised beds were clad in cedar strips to match the hardwood decking. The decking leads down to a sawn sandstone patio and artificial lawn.
-
A nice trick used here is to paint the old brick walls and trellis black. The dark background makes any colours in the planting look way more lush.
-
The spot lights used thorough-out the garden pick out feature planting and even borrow the neighbours silver birch tree.
We constructed the rendered raised beds around the perimeter of the lawn to raised the lower levels back up again.
Brighton Hillside
-
This was an extremely steep site in Brighton. We used specialist narrow access equipment to move large amounts of materials up into the garden.
The customer was looking for an interesting entertainment area outside of their patio doors
-
We constructed a corner bench from gabion baskets filled with ragstone. To soften the corner we then retained the rest of the bank with curving vertical sleepers.
-
We constructed a framework for the floating architectural concrete steps. These are then poured, stripped and troweled in the same day.
The paving is all Indian sandstone grouted with flowpoint commercial slurry compound
Yoga Studio
-
This client wanted a space to teach yoga in an unused area of the garden.
We included a large composite deck, with stainless steel cable balustrade and bullnose edging as the main teaching area.
-
We also built a smaller porcelain patio area covered with a contemporary pergola as a recovery space or additional teaching space
-
The light stone chipping give a contrasting texture to the more modern materials elsewhere in the garden.
Brighton Courtyard
-
This garden originally had a small level area immediately outside the bifold doors. Then the garden raised up significantly to a dangerous upper level.
-
We excavated right the way to the back of the garden and installed new retaining walls, paving and a cedar clad raised bed.
-
The cedar screen was a ‘like for like’ replacement of the existing screen. This gives a beautiful backdrop and privacy from neighbouring windows.
